What the UN cannot do, could sometimes be done at the NGO level.One of the most effective ways to improve situation in developing countries isthrough education. Many people believe education is the best way to get childrenout of poverty. Not only does it get children out of the cycle of poverty, but it alsohelps to improve the situation in their counties in the long run. (Education does nothelp improve society in one day, but it works slowly and steadily.) We can teachthem not only some practical studies or skill such as digging a well or preventing thespread of disease, but also how to respect international peace or how to preserve ourenvironment. Children will be responsible for the future of mankind. They can learnmore when they are young. Those who are taught to fight with guns at an early agewill find it difficult to respect peace when they grow up, but those who are taught torespect peace try to search for a pacific settlement.Education is one of the fields still left to individual states. The UN cannot directlyintervene with education in individual states, and it should not, but through UNICEFor by cooperating with local government and NGOs, the UN can promote educationalprograms all over the world.(3)Restoring damage done to our ecosphereBecause of advanced technology, life in developed countries has become easier.This has brought about serious side effects.
