CONCLUDING REMARKS:The challenges facing the world are endless, and they are becoming complex dayby day. While these are tough enough to handle, we cannot preclude the possibilityof having even more difficult and demanding challenges in the future. Accordingly,the measures for effective preventive actions discussed in this Essay may becomeobsolete, and newer, more appropriate ones will have to be devised. Such a dynamicis inevitable; it is but a part of the progress of humanity. In all this, the UN has onlyone choice: it must continue to function effectively, timely and evenhandedly. For thispurpose, adaptations and innovations will be critical; they are in fact our main sourcesof strength and hope. The UN has done well so far. With the support and commitmentof all, there is a fair chance it will continue to shine through and meet the challengesand requirements of time.826
