seminars and workshops, etc. That are primarily, only useful for local attendees. Aftera seminar or workshop has been concluded, the results of the event are publishedand disseminated via traditional means such as mail or by hand at other conferences. These methods are all limited and quite finite in their reach ? to the public, governments, Non-Governmental-Organizations (NGO’s) 2and academic institutionswho are interested in the ongoing research of the UN University. We have received phone calls from frustrated individuals and organizations whofind it difficult to obtain UNU publications that they need. They have often statedhow difficult it is to get publications from UNIPUB (a company in Lanham, Marylandthat distributes UNU as well as many UN books) and the UN book shop. Propertechnological information distribution systems, will greatly alleviate this problem.Recommendations & BenefitsUNU needs to institute a strong technology orientated plan to advance theaccuracy and potency of its dissemination efforts. This new dissemination plan wouldenable the intended targets of UNU information to receive it timely and efficiently. The implementation of this dissemination plan should be a systematic and integralpart of all UNU programmes and processes. Not only a one day solution or bandage, but a continuously evolving and increasing process.Technological implementation will not be cheap or without problems at thebeginning. The infant stages of any technical plan will be met with some amount ofproblems; however, the end result of proper implementation will result in positivebenefits. I have read many case studies of universities, companies, and governmententities that have implemented new technologies and benefited. This can be measuredas a Return On Investment or ROI.4882 Non-Governmental-Organizations are organizations such as the International Red Cross, International Alert, andothers who assist governments, primarily in global affairs such as peace & security, humanitarian assistance, etc.
