It should actas the fulcrum for other, smaller environmental concerns to integrate and combinetheir collective voices to impress upon all nations the need to live in harmonywith the environment. It should also impress upon its member nations to enactenvironmentally-sound guidelines and regulations by which all businesses andenterprises would be held accountable. Its most noble goal should be to develop a“Universal Environmental Court”where nations, regions, and even individuals couldarticulate their concerns. Ultimately, this“court”would have the power to redressenvironmental wrongs and inflict appropriate punishments for violators.?．CONCLUSIONIn today’s world, no one faction, government, individual or organization can hope tocontrol or guide the rest of humanity along a path of prosperity, humanity, peace, andenvironmental coexistence. Yet these are the goals which we all desire in the comingcentury. The United Nations is a part of the world’s community. Founded almost fiftyyears ago, it has grown to reach, by current standards, middle age. But just as anyfifty-year-old will tell you, he or she still has abundant life and energy with which tocontribute. The United Nations is no different in that respect. Indeed, fifty-years is notthat old for an organization.This essay has attempted to address the need for the United Nations to conduct athorough self analysis in the wake of its coming fiftieth anniversary.
