fluidly and with greater ease of operation. The staff members of the United Nationsare citizens from each of the 189 member states. Almost every country in the worldcontributes workers to the UN, and because of this the large changes in staff relationswill affect the world, be it in a small way or a large one. More effective relations withpersonnel will enable the UN to respond to events with greater speed, sending thepeople it needs to the crisis zones more quickly. The International Community of the21 st century will benefit greatly from this change, even if it is not really noticeable foranother few years. By showing the world that it recognizes its faults and is workingto change them, the United Nations is proving, in part, its worth. The UN is stillrather young, but through changes like this it is maturing quickly.Perhaps one of the most impacting documents the UN has put forth, in relationto the International Community, is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Thisdocument strives to promote‘the equal and inalienable rights of all members of thehuman family’, and lists this as an accomplishment that all should work for. Obviouslythis situation is not currently the case in every country, but if it were, what a worldwe would be living in. If this goal is indeed reached sometime within the near future,the United Nations will see a radical change in its duties. This goal, if achieved, wouldeliminate the need for several of the organs that comprise the United Nations. Likely,though, it will be a long time before we see this feat accomplished, if ever. However,having this as one of the primary principals that the UN is founded on is saying a lotabout the UN, all of it good. If this is truly the goal that is being striven for, is not theUN one of the most saintly of worldwide organizations? Is this document alone nota reason for every nation in the world to join the UN, to pay its dues regularly, andto fully support this wonderful organization? One would think so.
