A viewpoint that the UN also recognizes, and isworking to accomplish, as it demonstrated in the‘Millennium Conference’held lastyear. In this conference the representatives of the UN discussed what they feel arethe problems to tackle in the 21 stcentury. This type of convention holds unlimitedbenefits; as the UN updates itself to take on the new century and the new millennium,anything is within its reach.The UN Throughout the WorldWhile the world is changing greatly, and while many problems have tremendouslylessened since the time of the UN’s birth, there are still many issues that need tobe dealt with. Other problems are on the rise, and the UN has already begun to acttowards them. The global AIDS epidemic, for example, has been increasing sharplyfor years. The UN is, of course, aware of this, and it has formed a committee (named,appropriately: UNAIDS) to look into, research, and educate the world about thisproblem. This year, in fact, the committee will be holding a conference to reviewresolutions and put forth ideas. On June 25, 26, and 27, the United Nations will hold aspecial session to discuss the worldwide AIDS epidemic.
