compensate for population growth in third world nations is highly problematic. If nomeasures are taken and the current global state is maintained, the economic potentialof majority of first world nations will deteriorate and official development aids mayneed to be reduced or even terminated. Poverty in nations with great dependency onassistance will suffer direct impact if such situation should become a reality (Kaneko2003:21).Several approaches offer solutions from different perspectives on populationgrowth issue. Improvement of literacy rate will open the doorto education, higher school enrollment will diminish the habit of gender preferenceupon provision of parental care and provide with basic medical knowledge, all of whichleads to empowerment of female gender role and improvement of infant mortalityrate (Salas 1984:24). Among the poorest population, a number of women possess noknowledge of less reliability of traditional contraceptive methods. According to theTurkish Population and Health Survey done in Turkey on over 5,000 women, othersstill hesitate to switch to reliable modern methods due to fear of side effects, health522
