Most of the Muslimswho join‘Jihad’and‘intifada’are males, especially young men.2.4 The sociopolitical factors of the conflict(1)Portrayal of Israel and IsraelisThere are various expressions describing Israel and the Israelis. Most of themare negative and reflecting Palestinian views. For example, Israel is described as‘aprovocation to the Arab world’,‘a racist Jewish administration‘,‘Zionist enemy’,‘oppressors’,‘occupied Palestine’, etc. From the contents regarding Israel in thetextbooks, the dominant goal is to instill the hatred of Israel in order to fight forindependence(Figs. 1 and 2).
