第18回佳作still behaving in the same way…3This explanation shows the original conflict between Jews and Muslims. Basedon the religious conflict, the negative images of the Jews are reflected in the modernPalestinian/Israel problem. It is known that Muslims and Jews lived together atthe time of Salah al-din. However, according to the CMIP report, there is no storyshowing that, nor soft expressions regarding the relationship between Muslims andJews in the Palestinian Authority school textbooks of the academic year 1999.(2)Jerusalem questionEast Jerusalem was occupied by Israel in June 1967. Therefore, the Palestinianshave the full right to mention Jerusalem in their textbooks as an occupied city. ThePalestinian textbooks describe Palestinian Authority as an independent State and thecapital of Palestine is shown as Jerusalem. In the official document of the proclamationof the Palestinian State,“The Palestinian National Council declares in the name ofAllah and the Palestinian nation the establishment of the state of Palestine on ourPalestinian land whose capital is Jerusalem...”4Palestinians believe that Jerusalemis their capital and that it is an important site for both Muslims and Christians. Therefore, Palestinians try to protect Jerusalem and do not agree to share it with theJews at the administrative level. The present situation of Jerusalem is interpreted as“The Jews have clear greedydesigns on Jerusalem.”5They believe that their state is not complete without Jerusalem as its capital, whichis what they claim. The proof of this is that their Minister of Defense declared onthe third day of the war of 1967, together with the Prime Minister, when both ofthem were standing by al-Buraq, which they call the Western Wall...6Therefore, it is declared that Jerusalem was the Israeli capital.
