概要

佐藤栄作論文集9~16

Additional recommendations and benefits for consideration8.Creation of a UNU knowledge base would bring together all UNU information. Not only publications and documents, but also speeches, calendars, agendas, case studies and a host of other information. Within seconds, those who need, would be able to access information, to be used for current and future projects. The creation of such a knowledge base would reduce the time needed tofind an obscure piece of UNU information, reduce telecommunication costsand possibly increase the quality of the information that is output by UNU.A knowledge base would prevent UNU staff, especially junior staff fromreinventing the wheel, when creating speeches or presentations, as aptly said inquote from a case study for a popular WEB browser.UNU celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. How beneficial it would be for anew consultant or staff member, who is working on a project or conducting research,to access 20 years worth of achieved data. This would most likely reduce the amountof work the consultant or staff member had to do, thus making them available forother responsibilities.9.In order to effectively coordinate the UNU technological disseminationprocesses, a high level post for a technology and information director shouldbe created. The individual appointed to the post would be responsible for theoverall advancement and implementation of technology for all of UNU. Thetechnology and information director would report to the Rector and workin close cooperation with UNU Research and Training Center directors. Atechnical and information director would serve as a catalyst and initiator forthe integration of innovative and efficient UNU technical planning.494
