第6回佳作WehavesofarmainlyfocussedontherelationshipbetweentheUNU anddevelopingcountries.ThismaymainlybeduetothefactthattheimmediateatentionoftheUNU isdirectedtowardsaleviatinghungerinthedevelopingcountries.However,WemustalbeclearontheisuethattheUNUisanorganizationfわralworld,andnotonlyaportion ormankind,howevernumerous.Anysuccesineradicatingthenumerousproblemsofthedevelopingeconomieswi lhaveapositiveconcurentefectonthedevelopedworldtoo.About850/ooftheworldpopulationarejusttoteringonthesurvivalline.Animprovementintheirwelfareandpurchasingpowerwilundoubtedlyleadtoanincreaseinworldtradewhichisesentialforworldsurvival.Thiscouldleadtoglobaldevelopmentandremovethefearofstagnationinthedevelopedworld.Ifthereisanyjustificationfor159Statetocometogethertoform theUnitedNations,thenastheacademicarm oftheUnitedNations,thereisamplereasonforthecontinuedsupportoftheUNU.TheUNU isundoubtedlyanesentialinstitutionfわrhumansurvival.Thereistheneedfわrittointensifyitsacademicresearchasitistheknowledgeuponwhichactiveprogrammeswilbebased.Anotherareawhichneedstobeincludedinthescholarshipprogrammeisbasicstatistics,forbiasedorfalsestatisticarelikelytoproducebiasedorfalseresults.Alongsidethis,istheneedtodesignanewdevelopmentalpaterndevoidoftheproblemsofpolutionetc.whichmostdevelopedcountriesface.Aboveall,thefruitsofthisresearchshouldbewidelydiseminatedintheworldtodecisionandpolicymakerseverywhere.759
